ConveyThis vs TranslatePress: the same visual editor, two different engines

TranslatePress sells a yearly license whose main variables are the number of sites and the AI word allowance; manual translation is unlimited. ConveyThis sells a monthly plan whose variables are translated words, languages, domains and monthly translation requests (page loads), with yearly billing at ten months' price. For one site that is translated by hand or with light automation, the two cost about the same, and TranslatePress's unlimited manual translation for a flat fee is very good value. For several sites with modest automatic needs, TranslatePress Business is cheaper than ConveyThis Pro. For one site with a lot of automatic translation in several languages, ConveyThis is cheaper and its allowance scales in smaller steps (twelve plans from $12 to $960). Choose TranslatePress instead of ConveyThis if one of these applies to you:

• Translations must stay in your WordPress database. Sites that cannot depend on a third-party service, or that move content between systems, are better served by a plugin that writes to your own tables.
• Your site is busy. TranslatePress lists no page-view limit because your own server serves the translations. ConveyThis counts monthly page loads on every plan (15,000 on Starter, 50,000 on Business), so a high-traffic site with modest text can need a larger ConveyThis plan than its word count suggests.
• You translate by hand and want a flat price. For a small, stable site with a bilingual owner, unlimited manual translation for €99 a year is hard to beat.
• You run several small WordPress sites and need little automatic translation. At low volumes, Business (€199, three sites, 200,000 AI words) and Developer (€349, unlimited sites) cost less than the ConveyThis multi-domain tiers.

Translating SEO fields such as titles, descriptions and slugs requires the paid SEO Pack. ConveyThis's free plan includes 5,000 words in one language, with metadata translation included.

Which one translates SEO metadata?

Both, but not at the same price. ConveyThis translates page titles, meta descriptions and Open Graph tags and emits hreflang on every plan, including the free one. TranslatePress does this through its SEO Pack add-on, which its WordPress.org listing describes as available in the premium versions only.

Where are translations stored?
