How ConveyThis works on Divi

Divi is a WordPress theme and visual builder, so a Divi site is translated by the ConveyThis plugin from the WordPress.org directory, not by anything inside the Divi Builder. You keep designing sections, rows and modules as before; the plugin reads the finished front end and serves each language from its own folder, such as /es/, with no DNS record to create.

Every language is produced from the one layout you already built, so there is no second copy of a page or of a Theme Builder header to keep in sync. Wording is corrected in the ConveyThis visual editor, which shows your Divi design around each sentence, and single modules can be kept in the original language with an exclusion class.

Translating a Divi website: common questions

Do I have to rebuild or duplicate my Divi layouts for each language?
No. Elegant Themes documents WPML as a Divi integration that creates a separate version of your Divi content for each language, and layouts must be marked translatable. ConveyThis takes a different route: the page you designed stays the only copy, and its text is translated as it is served. Change a module's wording in the builder and the new sentence is picked up and translated automatically.
Are Theme Builder headers, footers and global modules translated too?
Yes. Headers, footers and body templates from the Divi Theme Builder are part of the page a visitor receives, so their menus, buttons and footer notes are translated with everything else. Translation memory helps with global modules: once you correct a sentence that repeats on many pages, the same correction is reused wherever that sentence appears.
How do I stop one Divi module from being translated?
Give the module a class of your own: in Divi 4 type it into the CSS Class field on the Advanced tab, in Divi 5 add a class attribute under Advanced → Attributes. Then, in WordPress, open ConveyThis → Block pages, enter the class name without the dot under Exclusion div Classes and save. Whole URLs, such as a members area, can be skipped with the Block pages rules on the same screen.
Will contact forms and text that appears after a click be translated?
Form labels, placeholders and buttons are translated with the rest of the page. For text that a script inserts after the page has loaded, such as a popup or a filtered list, switch on Translate Dynamic Content (AJAX / WebSockets) in the plugin's Extended settings. The extended settings guide explains each option.
Can a Divi hero image show different text in each language?
Yes. Turn on Translate Media in the plugin's Extended settings, then open the visual editor, select the image and give it a replacement URL for each language. Keep the replacement close to the original size so the spacing of your Divi section does not shift. Step-by-step instructions are in the image and media guide.
