ConveyThis vs Weglot: which website translation tool should you choose?

Both tools translate a live website without code, and both do it well. They differ in how many words you get per dollar, how many languages the larger plans include and how much traffic each plan covers. We checked every number below on the two public pricing pages on 22 September 2026, and the page-view allowances again on 28 September 2026.

ConveyThis vs Weglot: the short answer

ConveyThis and Weglot work the same way. A small script or a CMS plugin finds the pages of your website, translates them with neural machine translation, serves each language on its own indexable URL and gives you an editor to fix what the machine got wrong. If you have used one, you will find your way around the other within an hour.

Where they differ is the plan ladder. On the pricing pages we checked on 22 September 2026, ConveyThis includes two to three times the translated words of the matching Weglot plan and costs 25 to 51% less per month. The larger ConveyThis tiers also allow more languages: 14 on Optimum against 10 on Weglot Advanced, and 80 on Advanced+ against 20 on Weglot Extended. Both tools cap monthly page views too (each calls them translation requests), and on that limit Weglot is equal or more generous at most matching tiers. If your site is busy but has little text, compare that row first.

Weglot is still the better pick in two cases. One is when an agency already manages your site inside Weglot and the saving on a small plan (five dollars a month on Starter) would not pay for the move. The other is when you want Weglot's partner network of agencies and freelancers. Both cases are covered in more detail below.

Sources: weglot.com/pricing and conveythis.com/pricing, both read on 22 September 2026; the page-view (translation request) rows and the trial terms were re-checked on both pages on 28 September 2026. Weglot prices are the USD figures shown on its page; it also lists EUR prices. If either page changes, this table will be out of date until our next quarterly check, so please tell us if you spot a difference.

Pricing, plan by plan

To compare the two ladders, we lined up plans with a similar number of languages and looked at the price and the word allowance of each. Every plan on both sides counts the words it has machine-translated for you, and both also count page views. Weglot's pricing page says it emails you when you exceed a limit and, unless auto-upgrade is switched on, stops translating until you upgrade; ConveyThis's pricing page says it notifies you as you approach a limit and lets you upgrade or turn on auto-upgrade.

A typical marketing site with a blog has between 30,000 and 150,000 words. On Weglot that is a Business or Pro plan; on ConveyThis it fits Starter to Business. A store with a few thousand products is usually in the 400,000 to one million range, where the price gap widens: $64 against $87, then $160 against $329. The page-view column runs the other way at the top: at one million words Weglot Advanced includes twice the page views of ConveyThis Optimum, and a busy site may need to move up a ConveyThis tier (Corporate+ includes 1,000,000 page loads at $320) to match it. We calculated the percentages directly from the two pricing pages.

Words are only one of the limits. Each company also caps languages, websites and monthly page views. If your site is very busy but has little text, the page-view allowance is the limit to watch on either tool, and Weglot's is equal or larger at most matching tiers. If your site has a lot of text, the word allowance matters more. Which ladder costs less depends on the shape of your site, so we show the whole table instead of a single "cheaper" claim.

ConveyThis also lists intermediate plans (Business+, Pro+, Corporate, Corporate+, Advanced, Extreme) that have no direct Weglot equivalent; see the pricing page for the full twelve-plan ladder and an instant quote for your own site.

How we scored them

Every comparison on this site uses the same five weighted criteria, published on our comparison methodology page. Scores are out of five; the weighted total is the sum of score × weight.

Criterion (weight)ConveyThisWeglotWhy
Website deployment (30%)55Both install in minutes on the major CMSs and on custom sites, serve indexable language URLs and come with a customizable language switcher. We found no meaningful difference.
Localization workflow (25%)44Both offer a visual editor on the live page, glossaries, translation memory, team roles and the option to order professional translators. Weglot's partner directory is larger; ConveyThis includes translation assignments and exclusions on every plan.
Multilingual SEO (20%)55Both translate metadata, add hreflang, serve dedicated URLs per language and generate translated sitemaps. They are equal on everything we can check from outside.
Cost model (15%)43At every matching tier ConveyThis includes 2 to 3× the words for 25 to 51% less. Both cap monthly page views, and Weglot includes more of them on Starter, on the one-million-word tier and on the top tier, so ConveyThis does not get full marks here. Weglot's ladder is transparent and its yearly discount is the same, but it costs more per word on every row of the table above.
Governance (10%)44Both offer an enterprise tier with dedicated support and data-processing agreements; neither publishes enough about audit logging on the pricing page to separate them.
Weighted total4.504.355×0.30 + 4×0.25 + 5×0.20 + 4×0.15 + 4×0.10 against 5×0.30 + 4×0.25 + 5×0.20 + 3×0.15 + 4×0.10.

The whole gap comes from the cost model. On the four criteria that describe what the software does, we did not find a difference large enough to change a score, so the two tools score the same there.

Where Weglot is the better choice

Stay with Weglot, or choose it for a new site, if one of these applies to you:

  • An agency runs your site inside Weglot. Most of the cost of translation is people, not software. If your agency's process, reporting and billing are built around Weglot, saving five dollars a month on Starter or eight on Business will not pay for a migration.
  • You rely on Weglot's partner network. Weglot lists agencies and freelancers who work directly in its editor, and if that is how you buy human translation, it makes sense to stay.
  • Your site has few words but a lot of traffic. Weglot includes 20,000 page views on Starter against 15,000 on ConveyThis Starter, and 1,000,000 on Advanced against 500,000 on ConveyThis Optimum. If traffic rather than text decides your plan, Weglot's ladder may suit you better. For custom enterprise terms, get a quote from both.
  • You want to try a paid tier for free. Weglot gives 14 days free on its paid plans with no credit card required. ConveyThis has a permanent Free plan (5,000 words, one language, no card) but no timed trial of its paid plans, which start at $12 a month. If you need two weeks to test a paid feature at no cost, Weglot's trial is easier.

Where ConveyThis is the better choice

  • Your site has more words than traffic. Blogs, documentation, catalogs and marketing sites with long pages reach Weglot's word allowances early, and ConveyThis includes two to three times the words at each tier.
  • You need more than ten languages without an enterprise contract. Weglot's largest public plan lists 20 languages at $769. ConveyThis lists 14 languages at $160, 20 at $240 and 80 at $640.
  • You run several small sites. ConveyThis Pro covers 3 domains at $64, Pro+ covers 5 at $110 and Optimum covers 10 at $160. On Weglot, Pro costs $87 for 3 sites and Advanced $329 for 10.
  • You have a small site and want to keep it on a free plan. 5,000 words in one language and 2,500 page loads a month are enough for a quiet brochure site or a portfolio, with no end date.

Switching from Weglot to ConveyThis

Most sites can move in an afternoon. For search rankings, the URL structure and the redirects matter more than the translations themselves.

  1. Export your edited translations from Weglot. You only need the human edits, because ConveyThis will machine-translate everything else again. Weglot's help center says export (CSV or XLIFF) is available on its Advanced and higher plans.
  2. Create the ConveyThis project with the same URL structure. If your French pages are at /fr/ today, keep them at /fr/, and do the same for language subdomains. Google then sees the same URLs with the same hreflang relationships.
  3. Import the edits with the Import Weglot Translations converter under Translation Management → CSV/TMX, which reads the Weglot CSV directly, and let automatic translation cover the rest.
  4. Swap the snippet or plugin, check that the language switcher works, and open three translated pages in a private window.
  5. Cancel Weglot last. Keep both running for a day so that cached pages still load.

The full walkthrough is on our switch from Weglot page, and the CSV/TMX import help article shows the converter screen by screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is ConveyThis cheaper than Weglot?

On the public pricing pages checked on 22 September 2026, yes at every matching tier. ConveyThis Starter is $12 per month for 30,000 words against Weglot Starter at $17 for 10,000 words; ConveyThis Business is $24 for 100,000 words against Weglot Business at $32 for 50,000; ConveyThis Pro is $64 for 400,000 words against Weglot Pro at $87 for 200,000; and one million words costs $160 on ConveyThis Optimum against $329 on Weglot Advanced. Both bill yearly at ten times the monthly price.

Which one has the bigger free plan?

ConveyThis. The free plan includes 5,000 translated words, one language, one domain and 2,500 translation requests (page loads) a month. Weglot's free plan includes 2,000 words, one language, one website and 2,000 translation requests a month.

Does Weglot allow more than one website per plan?

Yes. Weglot Pro includes 3 websites, Advanced 10 and Extended 20, according to its pricing page on 22 September 2026. ConveyThis Pro includes 3 domains, Optimum 10 and Advanced+ 30. Neither tool limits you to a single site on the mid and upper tiers.

Does either tool limit page views?

Yes, both do. Weglot lists monthly translation requests, which it describes as roughly your translated page views, from 2,000 on Free to 5,000,000 on Extended. ConveyThis lists monthly translation requests (page loads) on every plan too, from 2,500 on Free and 15,000 on Starter to 5,000,000 on Extreme. At matching tiers the allowances are equal (Business 50,000, Pro 200,000) or larger on Weglot (Starter 20,000 against 15,000; one million words comes with 1,000,000 requests on Weglot Advanced against 500,000 on ConveyThis Optimum).

Can I move my Weglot translations to ConveyThis?

Yes. Export your edited translations from Weglot, import them into ConveyThis as a glossary or through the translation editor, keep the same URL structure (subdirectories such as /fr/ or language subdomains), and let ConveyThis translate the remaining segments automatically. The switching guide explains the redirects and hreflang checks that keep your rankings in place.
