How ConveyThis works on WooCommerce
WooCommerce stores use the ConveyThis WordPress plugin, the same one any WordPress site uses. When a shopper opens a page in another language, WordPress builds the page as usual, and the plugin translates it before the shopper sees it. That covers product, category, cart, checkout and account pages. On those pages, ConveyThis translates product titles, descriptions, tags, attributes and variation names. It also translates text from your theme and other plugins.
A new product is translated the first time its page is opened in another language, so there is nothing to run after you publish. ConveyThis doesn't create translated copies of your products. You edit each product once, in WooCommerce.
ConveyThis does not translate order emails.
ConveyThis or a WordPress translation plugin

When ConveyThis fits better
WPML, Polylang and TranslatePress make WordPress itself multilingual, and automatic translation is limited or costs extra. WPML's €39/year Blog license includes no AI translation. Its €99/year CMS license, the cheapest one with WooCommerce support, includes 22,500 AI words. TranslatePress Personal includes 50,000 AI words for €99/year. The free Polylang plugin doesn't translate anything, and WooCommerce support is an add-on for €99/year. With ConveyThis, your plan includes automatic translation of the whole store: Business has 200,000 words in 3 languages for $24 a month. WooCommerce uses the same free plugin, and there is no add-on. We checked these prices on each vendor's site on September 27, 2026.
When a WordPress plugin fits better
Choose WPML, Polylang or TranslatePress if every translation must live in your own WordPress database, or if you translate by hand and want a flat yearly price. WPML also lets you set slugs and SEO fields for each language inside WordPress. These plugins don't list a page-load limit, because your own server delivers the translated pages. ConveyThis counts monthly translation requests (page loads) on every plan: 15,000 on Starter and 50,000 on Business. A busy store with little text can need a bigger plan than its word count suggests.
Language subdirectories and SEO for your store
A subdirectory for each language with no DNS change
The plugin serves each language at its own address, such as yourstore.com/fr/product/... WordPress builds the translated page on your server, so search engines receive the French page in French. Each page gets hreflang tags and a translated title and meta description. If you use Yoast, Rank Math or SEOPress, the plugin adds your translated pages to their sitemaps. You can also translate URL slugs. A plugin setting translates structured data (JSON-LD). It is off by default. If you prefer subdomains such as fr.yourstore.com, add one CNAME record per language.

Translation quality you can check

AI translation, then your edits
AI and machine translation give you a first draft of every product and page. The draft usually reads naturally, but review it, starting with your best sellers and the checkout. In the visual editor, you click any text on your live store and change it. The visual editor can't open a store that is password-protected or in maintenance mode. When you change a sentence, the change applies to every page that already has that sentence. On the Starter plan or higher, a glossary keeps brand and product names fixed. Glossary rules are case-sensitive. For text that must be exact, you can order a professional human translation from the text editor in your dashboard, priced per word. Try it on your own store first, on the Free plan.
Shopify and WooCommerce in one account
One dashboard for both stores
Selling on WooCommerce and Shopify, or moving from one to the other? ConveyThis works on both. The ConveyThis WordPress plugin translates your WooCommerce store, and the Shopify app translates your Shopify store. You can manage both stores in one ConveyThis account. Plans for more than one website start at Pro, $64 a month, with 3 websites.
What changes on Shopify
On Shopify, you install the "ConveyThis: AI Store Translator" app from the Shopify App Store. Shopify stores get a subdomain for each language, such as fr.yourstore.com, on the Business plan or higher. Subdirectories such as /fr/ are not available there. Shopify translates its own checkout through its language settings, and a short Liquid block sends order emails in the shopper's language. If you move platforms, you can export your translations and import them on the new site.

Images, switcher and visitor language

Images per language and the language switcher
Swap a product image, video or PDF for each language, for example a banner with English text on it. ConveyThis doesn't read text inside images, but it does translate image alt text. Style the language switcher to match your theme: choose the position, colors, flags and a dropdown or popup, or add your own CSS. On the Starter plan or higher, you can send visitors to the language their browser uses.

Common questions about WooCommerce translation
Will payment gateways keep working?
What does ConveyThis cost for a WooCommerce store?
You pay for translated words and languages. Each word is counted once, the first time it is translated. Each plan also includes a monthly number of translation requests (page loads). The Free plan has 10,000 words, 1 language and 2,500 page loads. Starter is $12 a month for 60,000 words in 1 language and 15,000 page loads. Business is $24 a month for 200,000 words in 3 languages and 50,000 page loads. The largest public plan covers 20,000,000 words. Paying yearly gives you 12 months for the price of 10.
