What ConveyThis does on your Wix site

  • Installs from the Wix App Market
  • New pages translated automatically
  • Visual editor on your live site
  • Glossary on paid plans
  • Upgrades billed through Wix

How ConveyThis works on Wix

Add ConveyThis from the Wix App Market and choose your languages. The app creates your ConveyThis account on the Free plan and adds the language switcher to your site, so there is no code to paste. ConveyThis then translates the pages of your live site with AI and machine translation.

When you add a page or publish a blog post, ConveyThis translates the new text once it is live on your site. You don't need to open each language and translate it yourself. You manage your translations under Apps → ConveyThis in your Wix dashboard.

ConveyThis or Wix Multilingual?

When ConveyThis is the better fit

Wix Multilingual is Wix's own translation app. Its help center says that new pages and elements are not translated automatically. When you change text in your main language, you update each translation yourself. ConveyThis translates new and changed text for you. Wix also grants 3,000 free word credits for automatic translation and sells more in packages. The ConveyThis Free plan includes 10,000 words in 1 language. We read Wix's help center on October 8, 2026.

When Wix Multilingual is the better fit

Choose Wix Multilingual if each language needs its own address in search results. It can put languages in subdirectories, on subdomains or behind a language parameter, with SEO settings for each language. You can also give each language its own text and images. It can translate the emails that Wix apps send, too. All of this happens inside Wix. ConveyThis keeps every language of a Wix site at the same address, as the next section explains.

Language URLs and SEO on Wix

One address for every language

On Wix, ConveyThis shows every language at the same address as your original page, or with a language parameter added to the address, such as ?locale=fr. Separate language addresses, such as fr.example.com or example.com/fr/, are not available for Wix sites. ConveyThis translates the page title and meta description along with the page text. Keep this in mind if you need separate language pages in search results.

AI translation, then your edits

AI and machine translation give you a first draft of every page. Most of the time it reads naturally. Review it anyway, starting with your main pages. Click any text on your live site and change it in the visual editor. Your change applies to every page that already has that sentence. On Starter and higher, the glossary keeps brand and product names fixed. For text that has to be exact, you can order a professional human translation from the text editor in your dashboard. It is priced per word. Start on the Free plan and see the result on your own site.

Your team and your other websites

Translators and several sites in one account

On Pro and higher, you can invite translators and managers to your ConveyThis account. Their edits go live as soon as they save them. Pro also covers 3 websites, so your Wix site and a WordPress or Shopify site can share one ConveyThis account.

Images, switcher and visitor language

Website localization illustration

Localized images and the right language on arrival

Swap an image, video or PDF for each language, for example a banner with French text on the French page. ConveyThis doesn't read text inside images, but it does translate their alt text. On Starter and higher, you can send visitors to the language their browser uses. You can change the switcher's position, colors and flags, or style it with your own CSS to match your Wix design.

The Wix setup guide shows each step with screenshots.

Common questions about Wix translation

How does billing work when I install through Wix?

Wix bills your ConveyThis plan. The Wix App Market marks ConveyThis as "Premium Site Required," so your Wix site needs a Wix Premium plan. Every site starts on the ConveyThis Free plan. To upgrade, open Plan & billing in the ConveyThis dashboard and choose a plan. You complete the purchase in Wix checkout. To go back to Free, cancel the ConveyThis subscription in your Wix account under Billing & Subscriptions. The paid plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Compare all plans on the pricing page.

How are words counted, and what happens at my word limit?
Each word is counted once, the first time it is translated. Each plan also includes a monthly number of translated page loads: 2,500 on Free, 15,000 on Starter and 50,000 on Business. When you reach your word limit, pages that are already translated keep showing in every language. New text stays in your original language until you upgrade.
Can I add ConveyThis without the Wix app?
Yes. If you already have a ConveyThis account, choose Wix as your website technology during setup and copy the code shown at the end. In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code. Paste the code into the Head of all pages, then publish. With this method, ConveyThis bills you directly, not Wix.
Can I keep some text in the original language?
Yes, on paid plans. Exclude whole pages with a rule, or single elements by their class or ID. For single words such as brand names, use the glossary.
What do I do if Wix says "You must be an owner of the website"?

Open ConveyThis while you are logged in to Wix as the site owner. If the message stays, remove the app and add it again from the Wix App Market as the owner.

The Wix setup guide lists the other messages you might see and how to clear them.
